Il 20 Aprile 2017 è stato inaugurato a Fabriano il Museo Internazionale dell’Acquarello contemporaneo, il primo al mondo. Un progetto che conclude un lungo percorso coordinato in cooperazione con 50 paesi del mondo.
On April 20th, 2017, Fabriano inaugurated the startup of the Contemporary International Watercolor Museum, the first in the world.
A project that concludes a long journey coordinated in cooperation with 50 countries in the world.

Nasce in Italia il primo Museo dedicato all’acquarello internazionale contemporaneo, a Fabriano, luogo in cui questa tecnica pittorica si sposa con la tradizione cartaria che è eccellenza locale dal tredicesimo secolo.
Da oltre un decennio la città dell’entroterra marchigiano organizza una serie di manifestazioni internazionali dedicate al mondo della pittura ad acqua ed ha ospitato un crescendo di artisti e mestri contemporanei che riconoscono ormai questo territorio come potenziale capitale mondiale dell’Acquarello.
Il Museo nasce dunque come testimonianza di un vissuto artistico fatto di relazioni internazionali e di reciprocità estetica, che applicando l’Arte Relazionale in eventi in cui i maestri e gli artisti condividono percorsi ed esperienze, applica la tecnica e la prevarica, facendo della pittura il linguaggio che fa da interprete e connettore di ogni cultura.
L’amministrazione comunale, insieme al team InArte che ha curato il progetto, ha collocato il museo nella prestigiosa sede del Palazzo Vescovile, uno degli edifici storici che si affacciano sulla celebre Piazza del Comune.
Le dieci sale espositive ospitatano una collezione di oltre 550 opere. Una interessantissima raccolta di acquarello tradizionale, di opere innovative e soprattutto di applicativi pittorici delle scuole internazionali, una collezione che è destinata a crescere grazie alle nuove collaborazioni con altri paesi del mondo.
Il Museo ha l’obiettivo di essere, oltre che il contenitore delle opere che testimoniano l’arte dell’acquarello contemporaneo, anche un luogo propulsore di attività: dunque mostre temporanee, ma soprattutto workshop, demo, conferenze perché il mondo dell’Acquarello abbia la giusta visibilità artistica e possa crescere in tecnica e contaminazione verso un futuro che già si comprende essere meno tradizionale, molto interessante e finalmente innovativo.

It is the first Museum completely dedicated to the contemporary international watercolor and it is located in Fabriano, Italy, the place where this pictorial technique matches up with the paper making tradition, which is the main local excellence since the thirteenth century.
For over a decade this City in the Marche region hinterland has organized many international events dedicated to the world of water painting and has hosted a large number of contemporary artists and masters, who now acknowledge this territory as the potential capital of Aquarello.
The Museum was thus born as a testimony to an artistic experience of international relations and aesthetic reciprocity, by applying Relational Art to events in which masters and artists share projects and experiences, apply the technique and overwhelm it, giving the painting the role of interpretative language to better connect every culture.
The Municipal Administration, together with the InArte team, who has handled the project, placed the museum in the prestigious location of the Bishop's Palace, one of the historic buildings overlooking the famous Piazza del Comune.
Ten exhibition halls host a collection of over 550 works. A very interesting collection with traditional watercolor together with innovative paintings and also pictorial applications from international schools, a collection that will grow in the future thanks to new collaborations with other countries around the world.
The museum aims to be the container of the works that bear witness to the art of contemporary watercolor, but also a place of activity through temporary exhibitions, many workshops, technique demostrations, conferences for the Waterpaint world, so that it might achieve the right artistic visibility and grow in technique and contamination towards a future that will hopefully be less traditional, very interesting and, finally, innovative.

La collezione "International Watercolor Museum" è la traccia che gli artisti acquarellisti contemporanei, insieme ai grandi maestri internazionali, hanno lasciato in questi anni di lavoro nella città di Fabriano.
Dal 2006 a Fabriano si sono succeduti centinaia di artisti provenienti da tutti i continenti, che, alla ricerca delle radici della carta da acquarello, hanno dipinto e scoperto la bellezza dei luoghi e del linguaggio internazionale dell’Arte.
Il “Museo” è quindi solo un punto di partenza, poiché è inteso essere il luogo che potrà accogliere i prossimi artisti e raccoglierne le future tracce. Il “Museo” è dedicato a tutti i maestri e agli artisti contemporanei, agli appassionati, ai visitatori, che apprezzano la trasparenza del pigmento naturale tracciato sulla carta.
E’ il primo al mondo, ed è dedicato al mondo intero, nella speranza che la pittura, nel suo linguaggio univoco e senza frontiere, sia il seme della conoscenza della reciprocità e della pace.

Il Museo si struttura in 4 sezioni:
“Fabriano, gli Artisti e i luoghi”, in cui sono visibili in video tutti gli artisti e le opere della collezione, qui sono esposti gli acquarelli dipinti in plain air nel territorio della città.
“Le culture”, in cui sono esposte le opere dei maggiori Maestri internazionali che rappresentano le applicazioni stilistiche declinate dalle tendenze delle diverse aree geografiche del mondo. In questa sessione sono inoltre visibili in video le demo pittoriche di applicazione della tecnica dei Maestri internazionali.
“I soggetti dell’Acquarello”, in cui sono presenti gli acquarelli divisi in soggetti tematici tipici della pittura ad acqua: il ritratto, la figura umana, il nudo, gli animali, il paesaggio naturale, il paesaggio d’acqua, il paesaggo urbano, le architetture, i fiori, la natura morta, la luce.
“Gli stili e le applicazioni dell’Acquarello”, in cui sono esposte le opere che testimoniano la tecnica tradizionale, quindi le interazioni dell’acquarello nei diversi settori delle arti applicate, fino alla speimentazione, all’interpretazione degli artisti innovativi. In successione: il monocromo, i pigmenti naturali, gli acquarelli sintetici, la tecnica mista, la trasparenza e le velature, l’ acquarello puro – ed infine “un punto di vista "altro", ossia l’acquarello applicato in concettuale, in illustrazione, nel Libro d’ Artista, nello Sketch urbano, nella mail art ed in importanti eventi dedicati all’arte relazionale. E’ in questa sessione del Museo che sono allestite le opere testimonial di "Marche d'Acqua", il premio biennale curato dal Museo della Carta e della Filigrana e "FabrianoInAcquarello", la convention annuale fabrianese che è divenuta per gli acquarellisti uno degli appuntamenti più importanti del mondo.
The museum is structured in 4 sections:
"Fabriano, the Artists and the Places", where all the artists and artworks of the collection are visible on video, the watercolors painted in plain air around the town territory are exposed here
"Cultures", features the works of the major international Masters representing the stylistic applications of the trends in different geographical areas in the world. In this session are also visible on video the pictorial demo with application of the technique by International Masters.
"Watercolor Subjects", shows watercolors divided into thematic subjects: those typically applied by water-painting art :such as the portrait, the human figure, the nude, animals, natural landscapes, water landscapes, urban landscapes , the architecture, flowers, still life, the light.
"Watercolor Styles and Applications", this section presents artworks that show the traditional technique, then artworks where the interactions of the watermadia is declined in the various fields of applied arts, up to the experimentation and the interpretation of innovative artists. Subsequently the: monochrome, the natural pigments, the synthetic watercolors, mixed media technique, transparency and glazing, pure watercolor - and finally a "different" point of view”, that is watercolor applied in concept, in illustration , In the Artist's Book, in the Urban Sketch, in mail art and in important events dedicated to relational art. In this section of the Museum there are also exposed the testimonial works of "Marche d'Acqua", the biennial prize organized by the Paper and Watermark Museum together with "FabrianoInAquarello", the annual Fabriano convention which has become one of the main appointments in the world.
